We were absolutely thrilled when writer and creator Jan Etherington reached out to All-Allam—not only with the exciting news of Series 6 of Conversations From A Long Marriage, but with an email accompanied by a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes photos from the CFALM journey so far!

It’s a true celebration of Conversations From A Long Marriage—known to BBC Radio 4 listeners as CFALM—and yes, at long last, the big question is answered: “Will they get back together?” after that unforgettable Series 5 cliffhanger.
Scroll down and get ready for Series 6, launching May 19th at 2:15 PM. We’re not giving anything away—but we are raising a toast to Jan, and to the return of our beloved radio couple!

‘Our Conversations story begins with Joanna, Roger, producer, Claire Jones and me meeting for the first time, in December 2017 to record the pilot episode. We continue with publicity shots for Radio Times and personal snaps from each of us, for each series, including the Christmas special. The memories run right up to the end of recording Series 6 and our most recent ‘Fan Girls Outing’ as Joanna called it, when producer, Claire, Joanna and I went to see Roger’s stunning performance as Churchill in Moscow in February. ‘Another bald pate role’, as Roger put it, which is a shame, as we all admire his hair!
My favourite photos include the studio shot during the ‘Covid years’ – 2020/21 – when Joanna and Roger had to record in separate studios. I was concerned that the chemistry between them would suffer but within seconds they were laughing and joking together and the listener would never know they were apart. The publicity shot I love from those years is the one of them sitting two metres apart on a bench outside the Clapham recording studio. I think Roger loves that picture too.

Another pic, which sums up their relationship, is of Roger is apparently running away from Joanna, as we wrapped Series 3. They were always very happy together.
My rule has always been never to stand next to Joanna Lumley when a photo is taken. It doesn’t always work, as you can see but Roger is always on hand to make us both laugh.’
Do hope you enjoy Series 6 and here’s to continuing Conversations…
Very best wishes,
Jan Etherington

A warm welcome back from the press…
The Telegraph – Fans of Jan Etherington’s observant comedy Conversations from a Long Marriage will be thrilled by its return for a sixth series with Joanna Lumley and Roger Allam, this time feeling the strain of conflicting loyalties. Life’s cruelties can often make great comedy.
TV Times – Jan Etherington’s engaging comedy series starring Joanna Lumley and Roger Allam returns this afternoon (all previous episodes are available on BBC Sounds), picking up from Roger’s bombshell news in the previous series. Joanna has been away from home for three months to give Roger some space, but finds things much the same on her return, apart from a new toaster – ‘I didn’t think I’d need a four-slicer any more,’ says Roger forlornly. Their relationship may have cooled a little, but this series is as warm and witty as ever. ★★★★☆ – JP
Radio Times – Joanna Lumley and Roger Allam star in a new series of Conversations From A Long Marriage, the Radio 4 comedy that’s genuinely funny and if you’ve been married for any length of time, occasionally hits a raw nerve!

The i Paper – Joanna Lumley and Roger Allam return for a sixth series of Jan Etherington’s award-winning comedy. It picks up three months after the conclusion of its predecessor, with Joanna now home. However, she’s struggling to come to terms with the fact that Roger has an adult son, born following a brief fling in the 1970s. She suggests an evening out with her husband, who is keen to oblige – until his phone rings. It seems his offspring wants to speak to him…
